Apparently this has been a pretty hot weekend for weddings, as Lisa Niemi married jeweler Albert DePrisco yesterday in Palm Beach, Florida.
The pair became engaged back in December after dating for over a year, and I think it's safe to say that everyone is thrilled to hear that Lisa has found true love again, considering just how devastating it was when her husband Patrick Swayze passed away in 2009 from pancreatic cancer.
After 34 years of marriage, Lisa and Patrick had one of those romances that most of us can only dream about. But the fact that their love was so deep is likely what allowed Lisa to open her heart again.
In describing her feelings about Albert on her website, Lisa so eloquently said, "They say that falling in love is wonderful. That sick feeling. The butterfly stomach, the rubbery legs, the diminished mental capacity. A feeling of being paralyzed, like some kind of speared fish, floating helplessly after a powerful sedative."
(Ahh. Yes. That's exactly it -- and it's a feeling we all know and crave.)
And Lisa also added this bit about losing Patrick, "But I have to say, as devastating as the loss of my husband has been, would I go back and start all over again with him, even knowing the tragedy that lay ahead? Yes. I would. A thousand times over."
Man. Is she an inspiration to us all to allow ourselves to love and be loved -- and to live in the present, or what? We may not be able to predict the future, but embracing every moment and taking chances is the only way to truly be happy.
Congrats to Lisa and Albert and best wishes for a wonderful marriage!
Are you surprised that Lisa married again?
