Robin Thicke was fighting for his marriage -- and perhaps another number one spot on the charts -- during the 2014 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last night. He debuted his latest single, "Get Her Back," most likely referring to his estranged wife, Paula Patton.
The “Blurred Lines” singer wrote the song for his Hollywood wife in hopes that he will be able to win her heart again after multiple allegations revealed Paula was done putting up with his promiscuous ways.
During the performance, Robin seemed to give off this “Yeah, I’m gonna get her back” vibe as he swayed from one end of the stage to the other with that overly self-confident smile of his. If there’s anything Robin is good at (along with making some really good R&B songs), he sure knows how to show off his self-assertive swagger on stage. From his body language, Robin isn’t saying he’s “gotta get her back” but instead “she’s gonna come back.” Because really, who can resist him, right?
(Cue the eye roll from Paula!)
Now, even with the masterly planned stage theatrics (complete with him getting down on his knees!), I can’t help but wonder: Is Robin really trying to win Paula’s trust again or is he just using their breakup as a marketing ploy to help promote his newest single?
I know that’s speculation at its worst, but with all of the manufactured gossip circling Hollywood these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if Robin is using his marriage crisis to help boost his single. Because what better place to debut your new single and talk about your personal life than on a televised awards show, right?
What do you think of Robin’s latest single and his performance? Are you buying his public plea to help win Paula back or do you think he’s got an ulterior motive here?
