A wedding invitation is the very first signal you send out to guests that clues them into the type of bash you're planning to throw. If Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's invite is any indication of what we can expect, theirs is going to be a classy -- and far more conservative -- affair than anyone could have predicted.
I don't know about you, but I was expecting K&K to send out over-the-top invitations. I pictured lots and lots of gold, tulle, self-portraits, even a photo or two of Kris Jenner somewhere. Perhaps you'd open the card and Kanye's voice would come booming out from it with a secret song he wrote just for the occasion.
Now imagine the exact opposite of that -- and you have Kim and Kanye's invitation, which you can see here.
Instead of going for something wild and unusual, the couple stuck with simple gold print on a minimalist neutral grey background. The invite provides few details -- we know their wedding will take place on May 24 in Paris and that guests are invited to a dinner the night before -- but we still have no idea where the ceremony will take place. Black tie is a must, but that isn't a shocker, and guests will be provided "details upon arrival."
Love it! First of all, they're smart to keep the deets a secret for now because somehow their invitation would end up on Reddit and they know that. But I think that little bit of mystery is also going to be great for their guests. I can't think of anything more fun than being invited to a wedding and not having a clue what the couple has planned.
Kim and Kanye struck a home run with this understated and pretty wedding invitation and I'm looking forward to seeing what else they have up their sleeve in a few weeks.
Do you like Kim and Kanye's invite? What were you expecting to see?
