It appears that getting engaged to Hollywood celebrity George Clooney isn't going to impact lawyer Amal Alamuddin in any signficant way. Don't expect her to start lunching at The Grill with Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. Don't expect her to start getting pedicures with Kris Jenner and shopping on Rodeo Drive with Gwyneth Paltrow. If George Clooney wanted someone totally not in his glam world, well, he got her. Because wait til you hear how Amal plans to get back to work after her whirlwind engagement to Clooney!

Amal, a well-respected humanitarian lawyer, is representing former Libyan dictator Colonel Gaddafi's spy chief, Abdullah al-Senussi. The chief is accused of torturing and killing god only knows how many people during decades of being Gaddafi's right-hand man in Libya. He is blamed for killing 1,200 inmates in a Tripoli prison. He was convicted in France for bombing a French airline; and Scottish police believe he masterminded the 1988 Pan Am bombing over Lockerbie.

He has been charged with crimes against humanity.

Makes you wonder what the heck Amal is doing representing a guy like this! She also represents WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is at least a bit more likeable. But Amal has a reputation for taking on tough clients -- she has already worked as an advisor to Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, the king of Bahrain, who human rights groups says killed and tortured demonstrators in his country.

Well, whether or not Amal is defending a "good" man is besides the point -- defense lawyers often take on clients who are anything but. But it sure is a long way from Stacy Keibler, isn't it? This is one Clooney babe who it's pretty safe to say will not be appearing on Dancing with the Stars.

This could totally become a new Hollywood trend, this whole dedicated playboy stops dating pin-ups, meets intellectual, and suddenly gets married thing. I'm just waiting for Leonardo DiCaprio to get rid of these Victoria's Secret models and finally notice that cute neurosurgeon who lives around the corner.

Do you think that Amal and Clooney will discuss Abdullah al-Senussi over dinner?
