We want to believe that celebrities are just like us. They eat salads and get lettuce stuck in their teeth. They shop the bargain aisle at big box stores. They trip on a seemingly even sidewalk. And they even have yard sales.
Okay, the yard sale one seems insane. Could you imagine rolling up to someone's front lawn because some old chair caught your eye only to see George Clooney hanging out telling you he'll take $25 for it? Not going to happen. If you're George Clooney (thought the unthinkable did just happen with him and he got engaged). But if you're Tori Spelling, it would. And it did. Only it's not some old chair that has gotten her in a bit of trouble. It's a wedding invitation of one of her 90210 co-stars that she sold for ... you'll never guess how much.
Tori sold Jason Priestley's wedding invitation for $5. Now this was back when Tori had no money the 2006 version, but Priestley is so upset about it that he's still talking about it now. And he also isn't holding back his feelings when it comes to Tori's hubby Dean McDermott. Priestley said:
I happened to be at home watching the local news one night, something I rarely got to do. Tori Spelling’s yard sale made the broadcast that night. I saw my very own wedding invitation on the screen. Apparently, it had gone for five bucks, including a personal autograph by Tori. She sold my wedding invitation to a stranger.
Oh Jason, Jason, Jason. Not all of us were so lucky that we were too busy to catch the local news and then get sore when our wedding invite sold for $5. I mean, it's a wonder she kept that thing at all. The poor girl clearly needed the cash.
This yard sale happened just a month after Jason met Dean for the first time and things didn't exactly go well with that. Jason's version of their meeting goes like this:
I walked over, extended my hand and said 'Hi Dean, Jason Priestley … He stared down at my hand, then back up at my face. No handshake … nothing … 'Well. [Mutual friend] Tom Cavanaugh speaks highly of you,' I said. 'Oh yeah?’ Dean said aggressively. ’Yeah, for some reason he seems to think you’re a nice guy.' I turned and left. Haven’t spoken to him since.
Ouch. Dean probably put the $5 price tag on that item. Never a dull moment with these two. But I also can't help but feel for Tori who now after all these years has even Priestley saying not so nice things about her.
What do you think? Why is Priestley bringing this up now? Do you think it was wrong for Tori to sell the wedding invite?
