Twenty years ago, Kurt Cobain's body was discovered at his Seattle home. The singer's death was ruled a suicide, but lingering questions and conspiracy theories have swirled for years. I'm guessing we're going to see a fresh wave of speculation after today's revelation that a handwritten note -- one that isn't exactly filled with warm sentiments toward his wife Courtney Love -- had been discovered in Cobain's wallet.

An image of the never-before-released note was turned over by the Seattle Police Department in response to public information requests filed by CBS News. The note, which appears to have been written by Cobain, is either sarcastic ... an inside joke of some kind ... or an angry revelation about the true state of his marriage at the time.

In Cobain's suicide note, the following was written about Courtney Love:

I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy ...

Here's what the newly released note (which is written on stationery from the Phoenix Hotel outside of San Francisco) reads:

Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife, even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring ...

Take a look:

Well, that's ... strange, isn't it? Some are theorizing that this was actually written by Love, which doesn't seem too implausible if it was a joke or a self-deprecating love note of some kind.

For comparison's sake, here are some of Cobain's handwritten lyrics:

And Love's handwriting:

What do you think?

Either way, the note is likely to stir up more theories from those who have never accepted Cobain's death ruling. Among other mysteries, toxicological tests revealed a high concentration of heroin in his system, which led to questions of whether he would have actually been able to hold the shotgun.

SPD cold case detective Mike Ciesynski said that nothing new was discovered in the recent review of Cobain's death, which confirmed the King County Medical Examiner's original determination that Cobain's death was a suicide. As for why this note was kept in storage for all these years:

There were so many conspiracy theories out there, it was good judgment on their behalf to hold to this.

What do you think about this newly released note? Do you suspect Cobain's death to be anything other than a tragic suicide?
