There's some very sad news today out of Bachelor Nation. Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill has died after having a terrible accident in Utah on Sunday.
Eric was one of the suitors cast on Andi Dorfman's season, which will premiere on ABC next month. He was reportedly already eliminated from the show when the accident happened.
After his parachute collapsed while paragliding, Eric was rushed to the hospital and was listed in critical condition. He was placed into a medically induced coma, but his sister, Karen Tracy, reported that he lost his battle this morning via her Facebook page.
Her statement reads:
Eric shared his final journey with us this morning as all his immediate family were able to be at his side when he passed away. Thank you to all of your love and support and prayers and fasting. It was amazing to be with so many of his friends and family yesterday in the hospital who came to express their love for Eric. He gave us such a gift of a life fully lived and fully shared, and allowed us all to be a part of his last adventure here on earth. It is hard to think of life without his bright spark, but we know he is on to new adventures. We look forward to carrying on his legacy here and greeting him joyfully again someday. I love you so much, little brother!
This is so tragic, I'm not even sure where to begin. In addition to being featured on The Bachelorette, Eric also chronicled his journey to visit every United Nations recognized country in the world in 1,200 days. He had already hit more than 50 on his quest, which he called The Global Odyssey.
Based on this video reel from his travels, it's obvious that he was full of life, inspiration, and hope, and he was committed to making a difference in this world.
My heart and prayers go out to his family during this horrible time.
What words of condolence would you offer to Eric's loved ones?
