'Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers Confirm Our Suspicions About Terminus

If you watched the season 4 finale of The Walking Dead, you know we were left with some pretty big questions that won't be answered until the show comes back in October. Certain survivors were unaccounted for, while others were locked up at a mysterious place called Terminus. It's safe to say Rick and the gang's situation can be filed under "Not Good," but how bad are things really?

Well, assuming the "spoiler chat" posted over at E! News really does contain actual spoilers, it sounds like the popular theory about Terminus is true. Which means very, VERY bad things are coming ... and maybe even a particularly gruesome storyline from the comics.

Season 4 spoilers ahead! (And maybe season 5.)

Most comics readers had guessed Terminus is a community of cannibals, a theory which seemed confirmed during the finale when we caught glimpses of human-looking remains as the Terminus citizens herded the survivors into that train car. Not to mention the big old BBQ, the spooky candle-filled room with names written on the ground and WE FIRST ALWAYS on the wall, and Alex's statement that "the more people become a part of us, we get stronger."

Still, the show didn't come out and actually validate our cannibalism suspicions -- that was sort of left up in the air along with the whereabouts of Carol, Tyreese, and Beth. But here's what E! News revealed today in its "Spoiler Chat" column:

Our gang may have been in a tight-spot when we last left them, but Rick and Co. are going to be recruiting as many people as possible in order to get revenge on those man-eating freaks who run Terminus. One of the allies we're most excited to meet is 17-year-old Burton. He may be young, but he's already suffered great tragedy when he lost his leg. Luckily Burton does not let his disability keep him down, and his positivity is infectious to everyone else around him.

Man-eating freaks, you say? Mmm-hmmm. We knew Mary wasn't serving up plates of venison.

What's more interesting than the cannibalism confirmation -- because really, that isn't a huge surprise -- is the info about Burton, the first new character confirmed for season 5. It sounds to me like it's possible Burton will be a twist on the comics storyline, which involved Dale having his leg chopped off by the cannibalistic Hunters. (His remaining leg, that is, because Dale had lost one leg already in a story close to what happened with Hershel on the show.)

I wonder if Burton's leg was amputated by someone at Terminus? There was a whole scene that ensued in the comics when the Hunters realized they had eaten 'tainted meat' since Dale had been bitten by a walker, and it would be awesome to see that play out somehow on the show. Because that was seriously demented, and led to one of the comics' most iconic moments:

But then again, maybe Burton's leg went missing for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with calf-muscle-gnawing cannibals. We'll just have to wait and see -- and meanwhile, let's hope someone posts more spoilers.

What do you think about this Burton character? Do you think it's possible someone at Terminus tried to eat him?

I have no idea if terminus is a place where cannibals live. I don't understand why you want to jump ahead of yourselves by using the comics as a reference. Just sit back and enjoy the show and stop ruining it for yourself.

As long as they don't eat Darryl. He's mine!

@Ellen, maybe some people (like myself) read the comics before the show came out and are having fun seeing where the show takes it? I loved reading the comics as they came out and I love the show just as much. I love where the show takes the comics in different places and love seeing my favorite parts from the comics played out on the show. For me it's part of the fun of waiting for the next season to read these posts, so people are not "ruining it" for themselves

With that being said I can not wait for next season!

@Ellen, I assume you don't read the comics. They are getting a little closer to stories in the comics. Please don't ruin our speculation as to what may happen in the future, none of us know but we like to try to figure it out. Terminus IS full of cannibals, we just don't know if any of our favorites have been cooked yet. Hopefully not. I can't wait till October and I love reading everyone's ideas as to what is going to happen. Love the theories, they keep you thinking!!!

I hope for a twist. Instead of eating living people they eat walkers. Terminus is right by Atlanta so they have plenty of walkers to eat. If they were cannibals they would have starved to death because I didn't see them growing any food.

Tracey Taylor

umm cannibals feed off of human flesh so they would not have starved as long as there were enough living people to eat. they wouldnt have to grow anything.why would they eat walkers?that is basically rotten flesh.the person died to become a zombie.

San Andreas

if beth arrive at terminus, she is mine, claimed!
