Okay, I feel really bad that Miley Cyrus lost her dog, Floyd. Miley feels really bad about it too. She's made that clear. Over and over and over, she's tweeted about her heartbreak over the death of Floyd. We still don't know exactly what happened to him, but one outlet says he died at the hands of a coyote. Where? How? Why? Only Miley and the coyote know. But now Miley seems to have brought it a step or four too far. Miley rolled out an enormous replica of Floyd at one of her concerts and -- sang to it.
The 60-foot-tall replica of Floyd was brought out during her Brooklyn concert on Saturday -- and all I can think is, Who had time to make this thing so quickly?
Yes, I've lost pets that meant the world to me. I lost a cat I had for 16 years -- the single longest continuous relationship I've had with another living creature, including parents and boyfriends. It was devastating. But by the time you're clawing giant replicas of your pet, you have to wonder what you're doing.
Plus, it's starting to feel like Miley is milking this for drama and publicity. I'd be much more impressed if Miley donated the profits for a few of her concerts to various animal groups. Maybe she's doing that? Secretly?
There's grief and then there is wallowing that borders on being melodramatic -- oh, who are we kidding, this is as melodramatic as a 1920s silent film. But at least she didn't twerk on the poor pooch.
There comes a time when you have to put on your big girl pants, grieve, and try to honor your loved one's memory by doing some good in the world. I think now is that time for Miley.
How have you mourned the death of your beloved pets?
