5 Crucial 'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Moments That Can't Air Soon Enough

game of thrones season 4Can you believe it?! Only less than a week to go before the season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones!! Finally!! Let the geeking out seriously commence for real this time. April 6 is only a few precious days away!

HBO has been adapting George R. R. Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire for the past three seasons, and they have all been fantastic. But seasons 3 and 4 are bringing A Storm of Swords to life on our televisions screens, which so far has been the strongest book. Needless to say, book readers pretty much know what's coming. But it doesn't take away from seeing it on screen in the slightest (Red Wedding anyone??).

So, let this be your warning -- DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANY SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4. Spoilers are ahead! At least likely spoilers, as we don't know how much HBO has changed things up from the original source material.

Did you read the warning yet?

Did ya? Did ya?

Okay, book fans, let's discuss the five top moments we can't wait to see on season 4 of Game of Thrones (it was hard to pick just five!).

1.) The Purple Wedding

If there's any moment more highly anticipated than the Red Wedding, most likely it's the Purple Wedding between King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell. This scene was a page-turner in the book. Joffrey is a complete and utter brat to his uncle, fan-favorite Tyrion Lannister, and even has some dwarfs duel to make fun of him during the reception. But then the moment happens that we've all been waiting for: Joffrey's wine is poisoned and he DIES! It's not necessarily the most brutal death we've seen on Game of Thrones, but JOFFREY DIES! Can't wait to see what Jack Gleeson does with this iconic, violent moment.

The fallout, sadly enough, is that Tyrion is blamed for Joffrey's murder, but still, the Purple Wedding is the scene to watch this season.

2.) Catelyn Stark returns

It's true, we haven't seen the last of Catelyn Stark after the horrific Red Wedding that decimated her son's army and his bid to become king of Westeros. Can you even begin to imagine how fans are going to freak out with the appearance of Lady Stoneheart?? Granted, it's tough to say whether she will show up in season 4, but here's hoping that we at least get a glimpse of how utterly creepy and crazy she's going to look. Beric Dondarrion resurrects her by giving his own life for her, and she goes crazy on a revenge quest to take out everyone who's wronged her family.

3.) Tyrion gets his revenge

Just like the Lady Stoneheart moment, it will be so intense and exciting to watch Tyrion's last stand against his father, Tywin. Tyrion, after escaping a certain death sentence, only comes to discover that his father is sleeping with his favorite whore, Shae (only in Game of Thrones). Shae is wearing only his father's golden chain of office, so he proceeds to strangle her with it. Then he comes upon his father and shoots him in the bowels with a crossbow. It gives Tyrion this darkly hilarious, final thought:

But the stink that filled the privy gave ample evidence that the oft-repeated jape about his father was just another lie. Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, shit gold.

4.) The attack on Castle Black

Game of Thrones is known for pulling out all the stops when it comes to big battle scenes, and the wildings attacking Castle Black with Jon Snow leading the Night's Watch will surely be the episode to watch. It's going to be as large in scale as Battle of the Blackwater, and most surely as violent, and Jon will finally emerge as a heroic leader.

5.) The Red Viper vs. the Mountain

Yet another fight but one of the most anticipated one-on-one duels in the history of A Song of Ice and Fire. Prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell, aka the Red Viper, seeks to take his revenge on Ser Gregor Clegane, aka the Mountain. The Viper is quick and agile while the Mountain is huge and strong. Oberyn constantly taunts Gregor with his past misdeeds and they slowly are able to injure each other little by little. Just when it looks like Oberyn wins the duel, Gregor is able to pretty much crush his head and win (not really looking forward to seeing that). But Oberyn gets the last laugh, as he stabbed Gregor with a poisoned spear. Kind of just goes to show how awesome this series is when one of the most waited-for moments features two rather minor characters!

What scene or moment are you most looking forward to seeing in season 4?
