Kim Kardashian and family are currently in Thailand on what's likely a vacation/shoot for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. From all the Twitter and Instagram photos the girls are posting, the trip appears just delightful. But I'd like to be so bold as to offer a suggestion, mainly to Kim: Why don't you put down the phone, quit with the photos, and enjoy the spirituality and beauty the place has to offer instead of turning it into a selfie bonanza?
Kim has posted a series of photos to her Instagram page since she's been there, all in sacred places that most would use to take the opportunity to be reflective or pensive. She, naturally, looks gorgeous in all the pics, with her white flowy dress, long hair, and crimson lips, and has hashtagged each photo with things like #blessed and #enlightenment. I think it's great that Kim is visiting these beautiful places, and hopefully they're making her think, but I'm finding it a wee bit hard to believe that Kim achieved #enlightenment and then immediately ran to the Internet to upload a pic of the occasion. I don't claim to be enlightened myself, but I don't think that's quite how it works.
Kim doesn't have to come back from this journey a changed woman -- changing isn't easy, and putting pressure on herself to completely evolve during the course of one trip is just plain silly. But she shouldn't take a bunch of pictures in spiritual venues and act like she's seen the light. She should either enjoy the places for what they are and keep them to herself. Or post the photos sans the hashtags trying to be all spiritual. Trying to do both is just ... #ridic.
Do you think Kim Kardashian is enlightened?
