The last time we saw Renee Oteri, she was leaving The Bachelor (and Juan Pablo's side) in tears after getting the boot post home visits. The last thing anyone expected was to next see her twirling around in a white dress, celebrating her whirlwind courtship culminating in marriage. But it happened -- just not with the man she (or any of us) expected it to! Renee just announced her marriage to her friend of over 20 years Bracy Maynard. The duo was only engaged for a month before tying the knot!
So why the rush after literally decades of waiting? Well, to shamelessly pilfer from the seminal classic of our age, When Harry Met Sally, when you've met the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. One look at the photos the couple shared via Instagram will put any doubts to bed for good. They are so happy and clearly they are very much in love.
All the same, it's hard not to wonder just what went through Juan Pablo's mind when he heard that Renee was now happily married. Knowing Juan Pablo as we do, he was probably told the news and then sat quietly picturing himself shirtless while pretending to be deeply moved. It seems given the stress of the season, that if anything, her tough time on The Bachelor could have been the very thing that helped Renee see what had been in front of her the whole time!
That doesn't mean she's leaving the Bachelor behind her forever. In fact, Desiree Hartsock was one of the few special guests invited to the tiny intimate ceremony. Another VIP? Renee son Ben, who served as the (clearly adorable) best man.
Everything about this wedding seems so incredibly romantic. The fact that they've known each other since they were 12 but only just realized they were in love is like something out of a fairy-tale. Add to that the simple elegance of Renee's dress, and the idea that Bracy rescued her from her terrible time with Juan Pablo and you've got a T.V. show I'd watch over The Bachelor any day of the week.
Would you ever consider eloping, or is a big wedding a must?
