Even though she freaked out (as anyone would have) when she found out she'd been cast as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, Dakota Johnson was forced to keep the role a secret -- even from her own parents!
Here she was, going absolutely nuts with glee over the fact that she'd just landed the most highly coveted role in Hollywood -- and she couldn't even pick up the phone to tell Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson the news.
Man. That had to suck. And wait until you hear why Dakota kept mum on her big gig.
She admits that her parents have "big mouths," and she was worried they'd spill the beans and let it slip that she was going to play Anastasia Steele.
And then everything would've been ruined and fans would've found out before the official announcement was made, which would've been a major buzz kill, considering how much hype surrounded the flick. There might have even been some sort of protest. Then (dare I say it) producers could've possibly considered starting from scratch and going in a different direction for Ana. (Like they did with Christian.)
Man. I can't believe she was able to keep her lips sealed like that! And it also makes me even more intrigued to see what other secrets Dakota will unveil when we finally get to see her as Ana next year. A little element of mystery has to be a positive thing when it comes to this kind of role.
Would you have been able to keep the casting news secret?
