Robert Pattinson may be in Canada sporting slicked-back hair and skinny ties while filming the 1950s biopic Life right now, but in just a few months, we'll get to see him in a totally different role. We've been hearing for a while now about his part in the Guy Pearce vehicle, The Rover, by crime drama director David Michôd known for 2010's Animal Kingdom. But we weren't positive exactly when the flick would be in theaters ... 'til now!
According to TheWrap.com, The Rover will be released on limited screens July 18 before opening wide on July 25.
The movie is "set in a world 10 years following the collapse of the western economic system, where Australia’s mineral resources have drawn the desperados and dangerous to its shores." It follows loner Eric (Pearce), who travels the desolate towns and roads of the Australian outback and enlists Rey (RPattz) to track down a gang of thieves who steals his car.
Sounds like the perfect action-packed fare for the middle of a hot, steamy summer. And a film that could very easily have us seeing Rob in a whole new light ...
Here's the trailer if you haven't caught it yet!
