OMG. Doesn't it seem next to impossible for anyone on this planet to be in the dark as far as what Fifty Shades of Grey is about?!? Everyone's read it. And everyone's talking about it. And with the movie coming out in less than a year -- it's kind of hard not to get sucked right into the craze.
But believe it or not, actress Winona Ryder thought Fifty Shades was about something pretty mundane ... not sex, BDSM, love, or anything in between.
In a new interview with Red magazine, she said, "This is how out of the loop I am. I met E.L. James at a party and I'd heard about the book so I knew everyone was talking about it, but because there's a tie on the cover, I thought it was about Wall Street! I think I said something really stupid to her because I literally thought it was about the economy."
Ha! Yep. The economy!
But think about it for a second. If you didn't know what the plot of Fifty Shades was, what would you think if you saw the cover of the book?
Yep. Exactly. That it was about some business dude who wears nothing but suits and ties to work, which is why, duh -- he owns 50 of them.
Huh. Can you imagine if the book hadn't taken off the way it did? Something tells me there would've been a lot of pretty disappointed readers if this thing happened to wind up in the wrong section of the book store.
What would you think Fifty Shades was about if you saw the cover but knew nothing else?
