Fifty Shades of Grey producer Dana Brunetti hit up the Oscars with girlfriend Kristin Chenoweth last night, and obviously he couldn't make it through the evening without being asked numerous Qs about the hotly anticipated flick. MTV News was one source that didn't hesitate to go there, asking Dana what fans can expect.
While he wouldn't divulge too much, he did get into how E.L. James influenced the film and what fans can expect when it comes to Fifty Shades Darker making its way to the big screen!
Of Erika's participation and, in turn, how true to the book the film will be, Dana explained:
E.L. was there every day. She was very hands-on. To have the author there definitely makes it pretty faithful.
In other words, she WAS the control freak we all suspected she was! Ha ha! Just kidding.
And as for the green-lighting of a sequel ...?
I have no idea. I have no idea yet. We haven't even started discussing that yet. We just want to get this one wrapped and get it cut. We'll see the cut, see how it goes, and once it's released, we'll start discussing what happens next.
Yep, sounds about right. They're going to have to see how well the first performs at the box office before even thinking about going ahead with the second and possibly third films. Makes perfect sense. Fifty Shades is no Hunger Games or Harry Potter, after all. It's a much bigger risk. So you can't exactly blame Brunetti and the studios for wanting to hold off 'til they see the dollar signs ... or not.
