We've heard actors say that their work has changed them in various ways, but never quite like Jamie Dornan says Fifty Shades of Grey changed him. It's an intense film, so it would be hard to come out of playing the lead character completely unchanged, but we never would have expected this.
He talked of the physical transformation when he recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show. As the audience braced for something steamy, Norton assured them, "It isn't as creepy as it sounds." Then Jamie made the big reveal.
So basically, I've always had a complex with the way I walk. I've not always been told I've got a bad walk, but someone's always commented on my walk. It's always been a bit like, 'alright. That's how you walk?
Then he proceeded to hilariously demonstrate his old walk that was "quite bouncy" and one that his wife helped him try. It wasn't until a dance teacher working with him on 50 Shades stepped in that his stride was saved. They were working on a scene in which Christian Grey dances with Anastasia Steele and the teacher told him it was just like walking, which he found humorous.
And I'm 31-years-old, literally the first thing you learn in life is to walk. And I was like, ‘that's funny. I'm not great at walking.'
So with some simple instruction to walk heel-to-toe, his life was forever changed.
No one ever told me that! I was always toe-to-more-toe! Now I just apply that every day, when I'm walking around.
The whole confession is so hilarious, endearing, and sexy, it makes waiting for the movie even more difficult thinking about watching him walk on that big screen.
