Bethenny Frankel's 'Obsession' With Getting a New Show Is Nuts

bethenny frankelAs you may have heard, Bethenny Frankel's talk show has been canceled. After dismal ratings and lackluster reviews, the network pulled the plug on the show after just one season. On Wednesday, Frankel penned an open letter on her website, more or less saying she was relieved the show got the axe.

Bethenny claims that she felt censored and not like herself on the gig, which is so not her style. "I felt a bit diluted, filtered, and somewhat constricted," she wrote. "I am a free spirit. My late father (a horse trainer) used to say, 'She is a mustang. You need to let her run.' I am more comfortable in my natural surroundings and in a setting where I'm surrounded by crazy, where anything goes and where I can be authentically me." She mentioned that she wants to use the free time she has now to "be with her daughter, do yoga, and focus on Skinnygirl." She concluded with, "I'm a little over myself and wouldn't blame anyone else for being over me as well."

Pretty interesting. And seemingly honest and heartfelt. Bethenny clearly is aware that she's a little -- how do I put this politely? -- overexposed. So, it's weird that insiders are now claiming that the former Real Housewives of New York star is "obsessed" with getting a new show.

According to sources, Bethenny would love to be back on Bravo, possibly even co-hosting Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "Bethenny is already exploring other opportunities that will put her back on television," an insider said. "Even though she will be taping the talk show until April, Bethenny doesn’t want to much time to go by after the chat fest ends and her next gig. It’s Bethenny’s ego that wants to be on television, even though she is a very successful businesswoman."

Hmm ... who to believe here? Personally, I'm going to go with Bethenny on this one, as, like I said, it seems like she's aware that people may be "over her" at this point. Bethenny's a smart woman, and immediately jumping into another gig after her talk show ends doesn't seem like a wise decision. The people and Bethenny need a breather from one another.

Only time will tell if Bethenny's being truthful or not. And not gonna lie, I kind of hope she is.

Do you think Bethenny wants a break or a new show?
