Hilary Duff Takes ‘Modern Family’ Vacation With Ex Mike Comrie & Son (PHOTO)

Hilary Duff Instagrammed a happy family photo on Friday from someplace a lot warmer than most of the U.S. right now. She looks breezy in shorts and a tank, and Mike Comrie is in a t-shirt and jeans, one arm around the former Disney star, and the other holding their 2-year-old son Luca.

But wait -- didn’t Hilary and Mike separate last month? Yes, yes they did. So what are they doing vacationing together? Duff’s photo caption may explain it: “#modernfamily #vacation #juicypear”

Well there you go. I guess all the “sources close to the couple” claiming that the two remain best friends despite their failed marriage are telling the truth. In the photo, both mom and dad are gazing adoringly at Luca (who’s nibbling on a pear) -- not each other.

When they announced the split last month, a rep said in a statement:

"Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation. They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

It looks like they are remaining friendly. They seem at ease with one another and comfortable with their new normal. It might not be for everyone, but they look happy, and more importantly, Luca is loved by both of his parents.

Do you think it’s possible to remain best friends after a divorce?

As a kid who grew up with divorced parents, I appreciated that they were able to get along with one another and attend events where the other was present. My mom's family loves my dad, so it was nice to have a family Christmas at my mom's mom's house rather than something that fostered an us vs. them mentality. When you get divorced, it's important to keep your ex in your life. He is your family whether you like it or not. Best friends, or even friends, isn't necessary, though.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 7 1/2 years, his daughter just turned 13. We're both very good friends with his ex-wife. We have a very open custody agreement because of her age, that pretty much allows her to come and go as she pleases from both houses as long as both parents are notified of the plans. Her mom and I are good friends, and all 3 of us frequently go out and have a few drinks and talk about the horrors of her being a teenager now. It just makes sense to us to be friends, if we're all going to be co-parenting her. We never have the issue of "well at mommies house I can..." because the rules are pretty much the same.

Am I the only gal thinking they may get back together? Best friends spending time together .. I am all for peace but v day together after recent separation and no dislike much less hate? I think this can be a possible reunion and reason they could be taking legalities slower than usual. They look happy together!
