Bethenny Frankel's Talk Show Meets Its Destiny

Bethenny FrankelBad news for Bethenny Frankel fans. Her talk show, Bethenny, has been canceled. After only one season, Bethenny's show joins Jason Hoppy in the ranks of things that just haven't worked out for Bethenny. She released a statement saying:

I had a blast doing this show with Telepictures. My entire staff worked so hard and made every day so much fun. I am thankful for the experience and for all my fans who tuned in every day.

Kind of a shame. Bethenny managed to pull some big guests and get some scoops and was always game for being brutally honest in the name of entertaining her audience.

But, like Kris Jenner, whose show was also canceled, Bethenny is one of those gals who divides loyalties. You either love her or you can't stand her -- and apparently not enough people love her to keep the show going. It's one thing to have an edgy, combative personality on a reality show -- where it's essentially required -- but it's another to have it on a talk show.

There, people are tuning into you for an hour every day, inviting you into their homes, and you need to feel like the type of guest someone wants to have lunch with every single day.

In short, Bethenny just wasn't likeable enough for that kind of thing. The talk show hosts who have been successful -- Oprah, Ellen, Queen Latifah, Rachael Ray -- tend to have an innate likeability factor. Not so much Chelsea Handler, but her show is a different animal. Plus, it airs late at night.

And hate to say it, but we called this way back. Bethenny just wasn't bringing anything new to this crowded field.

Now that two reality shows are in Bethenny's history and the talk show didn't work out, I wonder what Bethenny will do next. She should probably stick to the thing she's really good at, being an entrepreneur.

Are you sad the show is gone? Here's Bethenny talking about her breast lift. Girlfriend was always willing to share!
