Just when you thought it was safe to turn back on your television ... Sharknado swims back into your living rooms! The original Syfy network telemovie was a surprise hit and execs (who were probably just as baffled as everyone else) quickly ordered up a sequel. Sharknado 2: The Second One (catchy title) will feature original stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. But in case you were wondering who else is hard up for work, they will be joined by Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, and Kelly Osbourne.
The new Sharknado will have a storm of killer sharks raining down on New York City. And presumably no one will think too hard about how it is that twice in a couple of years there can be a shark superstorm -- and that the same people will get caught up in it.
The odd thing is that if sharks did rain down on Manhattan, no one would pay much attention to it. Sharks? Fuhgeddaboudit!
Also making appearances will be Judd Hirsch, Andy Dick, and Judah Friedlander. Hmmm ... Andy Dick and a swarm of flying sharks? Might have to watch this one.
The appeal of the first movie seemed to be that it totally embraced its badness and didn't try to be something it wasn't. It's just sharks flying in the damn air and Tara's bad acting, people. That's either your thing or it ain't.
Apparently enough people liked the first one that a second one was in order. Which tells you all you need to know about where this country this headed.
Ah, heck, just good, clean fun, right?! Here's some scenes from the original Sharknado. I'm guessing the scenes from the second movie will look pretty much the same. Will you watch?
