Another British Celeb Slams Kate Middleton for No Reason

Kate MiddletonAs if having to celebrate the woman who called her a "plastic princess" (Hilary Mantel) wasn't bad enough, now another prominent British academic has some not-so-nice things to say about Kate Middleton. What is it with these people? Have they not seen the Duchess? She is without parallel! In an interview with The Times, academic Mary Beard not only AGREED with Mantel's assessment of Kate, she took it a step further. Not nice!

Beard had this to say when she was asked to elaborate on Mantel's comments. She described Kate as being "doll-like" -- but not in a good way! Utterly outrageous.

I think Hilary Mantel was probably right. She’s been constructed as this admirable, maternal, doll-like precious vessel. Who’s done it? In part she has constructed herself, in part she has taken on a job, which has its up sides and down sides. She is constantly reproduced so there are lots of things in complicity. You could say that’s the deal. We have no clue whether she has made the right or wrong decision.

This hypercritical, academic assessment of Kate is terrible. Not only is it making a mountain out of a molehill (no disrespect, moles, you know I heart you), but it's removing the fact that Kate is a human being from the equation! Academics should focus on schoolwork, not the lives of the Royal Family.

Why do you think people keep trying to harass Kate?

Because her 'mother in law' Camilla is a jealous drunken psycho...I have no doubt that if anyone were to look closer, they would see that Camilla had a hand in this!

The people who say bad things are most likely jealous of The Duchess, she has class and is beautiful.

hang on.. the interview wasnt about kate. it was about the image of women in general in the media, in the run up to a lecture on the public voice of women i am doing on friday. in a 90 minute interview about 5 minutes was devoted to the different images the royal family offered of this, including Kate.. contrasted with say princess anne. there are big issues here about all women that are sadly trivialized by making it seem as if it is "claws out" for kate. it simply isnt.

(and since when was a prof of classics a celeb??)

I have to disagree. What is there to be jealous of?! She's never had real world experience (NO, working for mummy while being at a boyfriend's call for ten years is real world and you know it stop being in denial), does very little by the results we see at events she's at, has the ability to make clothes and jewelry look cheap, has a husband who clearly tries to ignore her, constant scrutuny and looks ten years older than her age. Can't you at least see why some of the criticisms are happening, or do you need the delusion that desperately?

Now if she would stop trying to flash everyone, grow a spine, get going on some work, and for the love of God PUT THE HAIR UP OR CUT IT OFF, you wouldn't see half these criticisms. Oh and by the way, she did NOT have to marry a prince and take this lifestyle; I am sure she could have been a countess somewhere shopping all day if she pleased. Grow up people, no one's jealous of her life in a fishbowl!
