Kate Middleton can now add Classiest Woman in the World to her ever-growing resume. Remember a few months ago when author Hilary Mantel referred to Kate Middleton as the "perfect plastic princess," whose "only point and purpose" was to give birth? A woman with a "perfect plastic smile," who has "no personality of her own"? (Super rude.) Well, now Kate and Hilary are about to come face-to-face. Sort of. Kate Middleton has her first public engagement of the year on Tuesday, where she will be the guest of honor at the National Portrait Gallery’s Portrait Gala, which stars the work of Mantel. Awk-ward!
Apparently, at the event, the Duchess will view the "portraits" and meet some of the writers. But, according to reports, Kate will be spared the embarrassment of meeting Mantel, as the author has "decided to stay away." Good call.
I'm not sure how much pull Kate has just yet, but I must say, it's awfully big of her to even go to an event that honors a woman who publicly ripped her to shreds. That's a lot more than most of us would do. Long live the (future) queen.
What do you think of Kate attending the event?
