game of thrones season 4Hopefully you were able to get through the holidays without any Lannister-level drama, but now that it's almost 2014, it's time to start gearing up for season 4 of Game of Thrones (as if you haven't already). We got our first look at the teaser -- all five seconds of it -- and now some new photos have come out revealing what we should expect to see come springtime.

In case you didn't know, there is a thing on the Internet that exists called Making Game of Thrones, and it's fun to peruse. The blog just uploaded a couple of photos as well as a sneak peek at what promises to be an epic battle scene, plus a look at Slaver's Bay. Faithful fans have also published photos of our first look at the Red Viper and Ellaria Sand.

Let the geeking out commence.

First, a shot of the cast and crew filming what looks like was the Battle of the Blackwater from season 2:

Neil Marshall, who directed the battle scene in "Blackwater" from season 2, is in charge of this one, which could be even bigger and badder than what we saw two years ago.

Cat Taylor, the assistant to showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, posted this photo from Blackwater, then teased, "Planning of this battle has been taking place for months ... Throughout our shooting schedule, our crew and specialist departments are on their toes, but perhaps never more so than this season. This episode has kept the teams in stunts, armoury, prosthetics, SFX, and VFX particularly busy, with camera tests and stunt rehearsals happening for several weeks beforehand." She also revealed, "Although this battle will not be laden with wildfire, I can say you've never seen an army like this on Game of Thrones."

OMG can't wait to see it.

But which battle could it be? Theories are floating this is the battle at the Wall. Sorry, some spoilers ahead. The Night's Watch, led by Jon Snow, fights against Mance Rayder and the wildings. Or it could be a battle with the Greyjoys, where Theon's uncle has his army attack the Shield Islands in the Reach.

The blog also published a photo of Slaver's Bay, where Daenerys will spend a lot of her time in the upcoming season:

Looks amazing per usual, doesn't it?

And photos of new characters have been leaked getting ready in what appears to be yet another gorgeous set. Here's the Red Viper and Ellaria Sand:

As well as the Viper and the newly cast Mountain:

Those of you who have read A Storm of Swords most likely know what the two of them being together means. Though hopefully they'll get to do their scenes together without that patterned umbrella. And The Mountain sure looks sufficiently tall, doesn't he?

Anyway, that's the latest from season 4. No premiere date has been announced, but it could be any day. This eye candy sure isn't enough to tide us over until then, but as of now, we can only wait with unabashed anticipation over what should be one of the best seasons of Game of Thrones ever!

Which scene are you most looking forward to seeing on Game of Thrones season 4?
