Gillian Flynn's insanely page-turnable book Gone Girl stuck with me after I read it for far, far too long. When I heard they were turning the emotional thriller into a movie, I got that nervous feeling any book-lover gets when they catch wind of any adaptation. Would the movie do the book justice, could it ever?
Then I started hearing who was involved. David Fincher directing?! Yes please. Ben Affleck as our shiftless, feckless protagonist (arguable) Nick Dunne? Better than Affleck as Batman, I say! ROSAMUND PIKE AS AMY DUNNE? Somebody wheel in my fainting couch, I feel a swoon coming on. My worry turned quickly to excitement -- and now that they've teased the first photo from the movie, I'm verging idiotic in my levels of anticipation.
More From The Stir: 'Gone Girl' Casts Red-Hot Role of Amy Dunne With Perfect Looking Actress
20th Century Fox made my day by tweeting out the first tantalizing pic from the movie. "SQUEEEE", my heart seemed to say. Affleck looks appropriately grave in the face, and all of the sudden October of 2014 seemed exceptionally far away. I want to see it now!
For those of you who don't know, the book tells the story of Nick, a man left reeling after his wife disappears. Because Flynn is awesome, there's more to it than that, but I don't want to spoil anything. Trust me when I say -- jazz-hands akimbo -- that nothing is as it seems!
The film also features Neil Patrick Harris! And Tyler Perry. Though hopefully in a role other than Madea or Alex Cross. Ha, I've made myself laugh.
Is Affleck what you imagined Nick looking like? In my mind he was slouchier and blonde.
