Miley Cyrus Reveals the Real Reason For Her Breakup with Liam Hemsworth (VIDEO)

Love & Learn 4

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is one of Barbara Walters' "most fascinating people" this year (Baba apparently finds twerking irresistble) and she sat down with the veteran broadcaster to talk about her life and her loves. Or at least her love, as in her ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth, to whom she got engaged at 19 years. Walters starts out by reading some of Miley's own lyrics back to her -- "I was crazy thinking you were mine; it's all just a lie"-- and demanding to know what the "lie" was. Walters has apparently never heard of, you know, just writing lyrics that may sound good. Miley handles Walters' probing questions well though, and listen to what she says about Liam. She finally reveals the real reason behind their break-up -- and it's NOT her tongue.

Miley starts off by saying there was no "lie" (or at least that she's willing to share with Baba), but confesses:

I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year. I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.

That sounds pretty darn mature, but Walters looks at her pityingly and says:

But that's called being in love.

Err, no, Barbara. That's being called co-dependent. True love means you can be yourself, be happy without someone "making" you happy, and means you can be alone without freaking the heck out about it.

Baba somehow concludes this means that Miley must not want to get married ever, asking, "You don't want that?"

To her credit, Miley doesn't get offended and simply explains:

I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged. But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy.  I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.

Aww. I bet Miley twerks with herself in the mirror.

I don't know about you, but this sounds pretty grown-up. You can't rely on others to be your happiness and your sense of self. That comes from within.

Also, here's to Miley for not dishing on Liam or bad mouthing him. Only those two know exactly what happened.

Now if only Miley can stop grinding her ass on everything that moves. And keep her tongue in her head once in awhile.

The full special airs Wednesday on ABC at 9:30 PM.

as a young woman just at miley's age, i sot of roll my eyes and her antics, but i have hope. the only difference between her and other "crazy" girls is that she's in the spotlight and has a bigger venue to perform in. i know my mom had plenty of crazy friends, and had some crazy moments herself in their early 20's. they all became normal adept adults/moms. i'm sure miley will turn out fine.

Rando... Randomlady

Her name is Barbara Walters, what is with all the "cute" nicknames? Baba is old lady... Also, way to go Miley. She finally sounds sensible.

Miley sings soulfully beautiful. being engaged at 19 automatically elevated her to maturity. now she jux has to explore her lost youth.

Saturday night live needs to do a skit where a Miley Sirus lookalike literally grinds or twerks on everything she sees, and sticks her tongue out making everyday situations odd and uncomfortable. Maybe then she might get it though her thick skull that nobody wants to see it anymore.
