As Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan hunker down in cold Vancouver to film the first few scenes of Fifty Shades of Grey, the studio is still announcing more casting news! The latest: Ana's stepfather, Ray Steele, will be played by Callum Keith Rennie. Although, we already know her current stepfather -- mom Carla's fourth husband, Bob -- is going to be played by Dylan Neal, fans of the book will recall that Ray is Carla's ex-husband whom Ana considers her "real" dad. And Ray ends up meeting Christian at her college graduation. Thus, it's not exactly a bit part!
While I was honestly a bit more psyched to hear about Dylan Neal -- Officer Witter! -- Callum appears to be a great choice for Ray.
You might recognize the British-born Canadian from Battlestar Galactica and Californication. He was also on the short-lived NBC series The Firm. Rennie also recently finished filming Weinstein flick The Young and Prodigious TS Spivet with Helena Bonham Carter and indie feature Ride with Helen Hunt. So, the guy's clearly got the acting chops to pull off playing Ana's protective, loving father figure ...
Can't wait to see whom they'll announce next!
Is Callum how you pictured Ray?
