It feels like just yesterday that the world was shocked by Cory Monteith's unexpected passing. I remember where I was when I heard the news, and how sick to my stomach I felt just thinking about Lea Michele and how she must have felt when she got that first notification of what had happened. It's hard to believe that now, just five months later, Michele has emerged so strong. Stepping out to the L'Oreal Women of Worth event on Tuesday night wearing a gorgeous red gown, the Glee star revealed her family is where she gets her strength.
My family has experienced a lot of loss in their life and they've been so wonderful in being there for me and giving me the strength I need.
Lea's fortunate to have that support system in her life, there's no doubt about that. And lucky for Lea, her family isn't the only thing she finds strength in. Wait until you hear what she told People about her new single "Cannonball"!
Referencing the December 10 release of her upcoming single, Michele said, "It's more than just a song to me. It completely helped to lift me up at a time where I needed it."

It really seems like Lea has reached out to the right outlets to help her heal from Cory's loss. After seeing the photos from Lea's music video shoot, I'll be the first to admit that I felt a little iffy seeing the longtime Glee star take on a new role and try something new. With that said, though, it seems like she's on the path to happiness. Surrounded by people she loves, doing what she loves, there's no doubt in my mind that everyone's favorite McKinley High overachiever is going to be just fine.
Does Lea's strength inspire you? How have you overcome a major life obstacle in the past?
