This is my first time hearing anything from Pentatonix, and I have to say after hearing this version of "Little Drummer Boy" ... what an introduction! Those voices! I'm in awe. A capella singing has managed to rock my world twice in one week. First time it was a student chorus of Lorde's "Royals."
Pentatonix is an a capella group hailing from Arlington, Texas. There are five vocalists: Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin Olusola. They are incredible. And while I am hesitant to be all ready to hear any holiday music, 'tis the season, my friends. This is a song worthy of hearing any and all times of the year -- it's that amazing.
The harmonizing! The shared lead! It's so fitting they are on the tip-top of a mountain because they truly all sound like angels. I need to have my father hear this ... he loves torturing the family with tired holiday music, but if it were Pentatonix holiday music, it wouldn't be torture at all.
What do you think of this version of "Little Drummer Boy"?
