Big Shot Singer Shocked by 'Glee' Take on His Music

OMG 1

GleeI'm on a legit Billy Joel high this week. Not only because Glee will be featuring many of his songs in tonight's episode "Movin' Out," but also because (WARNING: personal brag ahead) I just landed tickets to Billy's January performance here in New York City. With that said, the Piano Man -- as so many affectionately call him -- recently spilled his feelings on the upcoming Glee episode. Joel's excited Glee is taking on his music despite never seeing the show. Gleeful, even.

"I'm very happy my material is being done by people of that age group," Joel told Zap2it. "I guess it has meaning for them ... I guess my stuff hasn't aged so badly."

Well DUH, Billy. And don't seem so surprised, your stuff is classic! Just WAIT until you hear the sneak peek tracks we have from tonight's episode. Dare I say it, they may be some of the best covers in Glee history:

First up my personal favorite, "Movin' Out" sung by Sam and Blaine:

And here's "Piano Man" sung by Blaine:

... an oldie but a goodie, "My Life" sung by Jake:

"Just the Way You Are" sung by Rachel, Kurt, Santana, Blaine, and Sam. Note: My guess is this is sung in New York when the crew reunites. Squeee!

I'm clearly a little too excited about tonight's episode. And on a related note, it's great when artists recognize the hard work of the Glee team when they pay tribute to their music. Especially since they've paid tribute to so many greats now: The Beatles, Britney Spears, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and now Billy Joel just to name a few.

Do you have a favorite Glee tribute?
