'Teen Mom' Mackenzie Douthit Uses Shocking Confession to Sell Books

Stuck in Reality 6

Mackenzie DouthitMackenzie Douthit may have only one season of Teen Mom 3 under her belt, but the reality star has already learned an important lesson in working her 15 minutes of fame to the full extent. Just this week Mackenzie spilled her heart to Dr. Drew in a shocking confessional that included her cheating on (then boyfriend) Josh McKee and also sharing the trauma of losing her brother Mike, who had Down Syndrome, when she was just 13.

It turns out the loss of Mike, coupled with her diabetes diagnosis, helped propel a rebellion against her strict Christian upbringing that led to Mackenzie ending up pregnant at just 16. No question fans were intrigued. So what's a Teen Mom to do when fans are asking questions about her late brother?

Use it to help her mom sell some books on the topic!

Mackenzie has never kept Mike a secret, but she hasn't spoken much about him before the Dr. Drew special either. Fans -- unsurprisingly -- had questions, and she answered them on Twitter with this:

Hey, why not? The book is already written!

It turns out Mackenzie's mom, Angie Douthit, wrote Life With Mike about Mike Williams Douthit well before her daughter ended up an MTV star. The self-published memoir details the Douthit family's adoption of Mike and the 17 years he spent as a brother to Mackenzie and her other siblings, Whitney, Kaylee, and Zeke.

Although the book is more about Mike, it will offer fans who are hungry for more Teen Mom details a look at Mackenzie's pre-16 & Pregnant life, which is exactly what people seem most interested in.

Just look at how well Farrah Abraham's My Teenage Dream Ended did when it was released. Not to mention both Kailyn Lowry and Maci Bookout have said they're writing memoirs -- both of which will cover life before they became famous.

Will you be picking up a copy of Life With Mike? What would you most like to find out about Mackenzie in a memoir?

Honestly her mom seems completely clueless, so no... I am not interested in reading her book. Her "magical" thinking about her daughter having sex is probably the reason Mackenzie is having her second child despite her precarious health. Being a Christian is wonderful but her expectations that her daughter and her boyfriend didn't need birth control, they needed to "do the right thing" is ridiculous and unrealistic.

^I couldn't agree more Jennifer. Obviously her mom has no clue or her daughter wouldn't have gotten pregnant the first time to begin with. Seeing mother & daughter interact on the show, showed me that Mackenzie can & will talk to her mom about some things but not everything, because if its about something that her mother feels is "inappropriate" she shuts down. Like Mackenzie trying to be responsible and wanting birth control. Her mom chose to turn a blind eye and tell her daughter to just not have sex. Umm yeah, that worked so well that she is now a grandma to one with another one on the way...

Honestly I don't know how Mackenzie is going to handle being a wife & mom of two. She doesn't even take care of herself. Mommy babies her 100%. On the show when her mom left and it was just Mackenzie and her dad, Mackenzie made the comment "well there goes our cooker & our cleaner", the house ended up being a disaster and she could barely handle doing the dishes...

I dont see anything wrong with MacKenzies mom still preaching abstinence.   Those are her beliefs.  Why should they change?  Whats the point in having your belief system in place if it changes for your convenience.

^Your spelling and grammar are atrocious. I can't even understand what you're trying to say.

I would love to read her book. I think it would offer some great insight into the life of a wonderful boy who was fiercely loved by a family that loves God. There's nothing better than instilling values and morals in your children.
