'DWTS' Recap: Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Girlfriend Should Be Furious (VIDEO)

Karina Smirnoff kissing Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Well, that's it. The Dancing With the Stars semifinals are over, and I gotta say -- tonight's episode was one of the most entertaining two hours in the history of all 17 seasons, at least for me. And I'm not just talking about the performances. Sure ... there were some pretty amazing routines, especially from Amber Riley and Derek Hough and Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff.

But my favorite part of the whole deal was definitely Maksim Chmerkovskiy joining the crew as a guest judge. OMG. How hot was he? He even shaved, people.

Everybody seemed to want a piece of him -- which can't have made his gal pal Kate Upton too terribly happy.

First of all, Bruno Tonioli was all over him. (Not that you can blame the dude.) He had a hand or an eye on him practically the entire night, which had to make Maks slightly uncomfortable, right?

But while I'm sure Kate isn't too concerned about Bruno stealing her man -- what the heck was going on between Maks and Karina?!? He was all about complimenting her choreography skills up and down -- and then she went so far as to run over and kiss him! Damn. That girl has some serious balls. (Kate might wanna keep a close eye on her man after tonight. Just sayin'.)

More From The Stir: Kate Upton & Maksim Chmerkovskiy Confirm They're Dating in the Sweetest Way

Check out this clip of her rumba with Corbin. Are she and Maks getting their flirt on or what?

Oh yeah. There's more going on there than meets the eye. Ex-fiancés typically aren't as ... cordial to each other. (Interesting.)

But even though Maks was definitely the main attraction tonight, I guess I need to at least mention who will not be going to the finals next week -- Leah Remini. And as much as I adore her, I can't say that I'm surprised. Bill Engvall has been picking contestants off one by one every single week. If things keep going his way, he could even wind up taking home the mirror ball trophy. (Yes, I'm serious.)

What did you think of Maks as a guest judge, and are you sad to see Leah go?

I adore maks and it was great to see him back on dwts but he completely robbed amber and derek of a perfect score on their first dance... and if his girlfriend can handle him and karina doing forever tango all summer together then she can handle him compliment her.The compliment was well deserved

Bill should of gone the second week, but he has a strong following and he will most likely win the ball. I hope not but I am only one.

LOVED SEEING MAKS, BUT WOULD RATHER SEE HIM DANCE, AND YES I AM SOOOOOOO GLAD LEAH IS GONE,  SHE WAS LIKE ANOTHER ONE THEY HAD ON THERE, SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS BETTER THAN SHE WAS.  JUST GOES TO SHOW THERE ARE ALOT OF US "REDNECKS" AROUND, GO BILL GO!

Karina and Maks used to be engaged and are still good friends, they just finished doing a broadway show for several months.

As much as I love Bill, he cannot dance!!!!!
This show seems to have morphed into a popularity contest, not a dance contest as it was at first!!

I watched faithfully for years but, after this one I'll never watch it again. I understand some of it is popularity but, the scores should be figured by the judges & NOT equally the fans. Most people do not understand the dance and what it should be. I know several who won't watch it again. Sad it became a popularity contest instead of a dance contest. I was done when Elizabeth was sent home.

I appreciated the fact that whatever Maks said, it came from a place of knowledge.  If they do replace judges next time, I hope the new judges have that same level of experienc.e  I think he did a pretty good job of not counting off for things he got mad about as a dancer when the judges counted off.  I wonder if he was judging each person based on what he perceived their skill level going in to it to be.

I also do hate that it's a popularity contest.  The only thing I think they could do about it is make the public voting a matter of voting people OFF the show, rather than who they want to keep.  That way, people who, say, love Bill will be forced to pick someone else to actually put their votes towards.  Although I guess that could go the other way, and people would vote off the people who came across the worst on the actual show, but still based on personality rather than dancing.
