Remember that video of Katy Perry and Robert Pattinson doing karaoke with each other? It was from about five years ago, not this summer. But you can't deny there was some serious chemistry between those two. Still, did we really have to go there? "Nothing is sacred, not even karaoke," Katy Perry said on the "Kyle and Jackie O Show." Geez, people, it was just a couple of pals getting sauced and having a little platonic fun. “At least it shows you that we’re actually just friends,” Katy said. ”It’s like if you’re a girl you can’t be friends with that guy … The poor guy. I feel for him.” Yeah ... that's what she said.
I'm not so sure Rob would agree. You know that age-old question argued over in the movie When Harry Met Sally: Can men and women really be just friends? "No, you pretty much want to nail them," Harry says.
I just had this conversation on a date the other day, and he told me in no uncertain terms that when a guy pursues a friendship with a woman, even if it's supposedly platonic, there's some attraction fueling it. Period. No guy is going to go through the trouble of getting to know a woman unless he's getting at least a little electric thrill just by being with her, even if he doesn't think they're never, no not ever, getting together.
Which brings us back to Rob ... Maybe to Katy this was just a few friends goofing off. But how much do you want to bet that Rob was totally crushing on her at the moment? Here he is, the new guy in Hollywood. The first Twilight movie had just come out. And he's partying with KATY "I Kissed a Girl" PERRY. Who cares if she kissed a girl? She might kiss him!
For all we know, Rob may consider Katy the one who got away. Maybe he saw that video surface and sighed to himself. Oh Katy, that chair is still too tall to make love ...
Do you think Rob might have had a crush on Katy Perry at some point?
