It feels like just yesterday Amber Portwood headed to jail after opting out of her drug court-ordered rehab program. After doing crazy well behind bars, the former Teen Mom had her five-year sentence reduced, and is scheduled to be released on November 6 (just a week away!). Naturally, I'm sure Amber's friends and family want her to get her life on track once she's out and focus on being a good mother to daughter Lea. And then there's Jenelle Evans.
Even after Amber spoke out against MTV putting her on Teen Mom back in 2011, Jenelle has some hopeful words for Amber as she finishes her time in the slammer. "I hope that when she gets out, she changes her life around for the better and proves to all of you that SHE CAN DO IT," Jenelle wrote in her blog. "She can stay sober and be a good mother."
Hmmm. Is it just me, or are Jenelle's happy words of encouragement slightly heartbreaking? I mean -- come on girl, maybe you should be a little self-reflective, no?
I'll be real: since Jenelle started dating Nathan Griffith, she's actually been pretty straight edge. Sure, there have been some questionable half-naked Instagrams and a few partying photos, but that's nothing compared to the arrests and drugs she was involved with while dating still-current husband Courtland Rogers.
With that said, though, I'm not exactly sure Jenelle is in the place to be telling other people to stay sober and be a good mother. This is the woman who has been arrested at least eight times now that I can count. I'm sorry, but when you almost need to start using toes to keep track of someone's run-ins with the law, that's a problem.
With that said, best of luck to both Jenelle and Amber. I'm with you Jenelle -- when Amber gets out of the slammer next week, I'm hoping she stays clean.
Do you think Jenelle is in any place to be offering Amber advice?
