Robin Thicke Reveals the Steamy Secret to Keeping His Marriage ‘Spicy’

Robin Thicke may have risen to notoriety over the summer thanks to his uber popular song “Blurred Lines” and its racy music video, not to mention the twerk-fest that was the VMAs, but at heart, he’s just a hopeless romantic.

Thicke sat down with Elle magazine recently and revealed that he learned how not to treat women from his womanizing dad, his musical inspiration, and even how he keeps things “spicy” in the bedroom with his gorgeous wife Paula Patton.

“My dad was single my whole pubescent period,” he said. “He had Ms. Alabama, Ms. Dominican Republic -- every week. I was like, Dang, Pops … He had an indoor Jacuzzi, and he frequented it. The first time I saw a naked woman was when I went to take a shower one morning before school. I was like, ‘Who is this girl in my shower?’”

Whoa. Hardly an example for a boy to grow up with. But the younger Thicke says that his dad taught him how to be a gentleman. “He was always very intuitive. And very smooth. He didn’t really tell me what to do. He told me what not to do, which is actually more important.”

Whatever he did, it must’ve worked, because Robin and Paula have been together since they were 14 -- over 20 years!

He says that he writes his music for love. Earlier this month he said that “Blurred Lines” was really about his wife, and now he admits that it’s always about the love. “My gift and my curse is that I really want to be loved,” Thicke told Elle. “What drives me to make music is love -- whether it’s shallow or deep or whatever. I want to do things that make people love me.”

It must be working, since apparently his wife likes to listen to his music in the bedroom. He said, “In fact, she likes to [listen to] it more than ever now. Sometimes she'll even play groupie for me."

That’s one heck of a role-playing game to play! It sounds like Paula knows her man well. No wonder he’s so smitten with her. He even admitted, “We’re overspiced … we could probably take a few spices off the shelf.”
