See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Ugh. I knew there had to be some sort of catch to Kanye West's surprise proposal to Kim Kardashian earlier this week. I mean, did you really think she was totally blindsided when she saw "Pleeeasse Marry Me" (or whatever) on the jumbo-tron and Kanye popped the question -- on her 33rd birthday?
Well, as it turns out, the whole proposal may not have been a surprise at all. According to RadarOnline, she knew he was going to ask for her hand in marriage, though she wasn't exactly sure when it would happen.
Oh, and another thing -- apparently Kim picked out her own engagement ring.
Grrr! Are you freakin' kidding me?
Supposedly she "told Kanye to get the ring from Lorraine Schwartz because she loves the jeweler’s diamonds" -- which means she wasn't the least bit shocked or blown away with the sparkler he put on her ring finger. She'd seen it before.
More from The Stir: Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Are Officially Engaged!
OMG. Way to go and ruin everything for yourself, Kim!
I'm sorry, but I've never understood brides who choose their own engagement rings. It really seems to take so much of the fun and excitement out of the proposal. In fact, I refused to so much as look at rings with my husband, a) because I thought it was bad luck, and b) because I wanted the big reveal to be special and surprising when it happened.
Sure, I told him I wanted a platinum band -- but that was it.
And Kim had to know that Kanye would pick out something over-the-top and fabulous -- so it just seems strange if she really did select her ring. Seriously -- why even have the guy propose at a later date in a situation like that? Why not just do it right there in the jewelry store and get it over with?
I know Kim likes to have a handle on things in her life and all -- but going forward she should really leave a little bit of it up to chance. If you can't allow yourself to enjoy a good surprise, what's the point of having any romance in your life in the first place?
Did you pick out your own engagement ring, or were you surprised?
