Adele Passes Driving Test With Hopes of Being Racecar Driver on Reality Show

Love It! 6

adeleThe impossibly talented Adele has been a little quiet lately (unless of course you're listening to her songs). Most likely she's been busy being a mom or a mum as they say in jolly-o England. Her adorable son Simon is 1 and that seems just about the time a new mum feels ready to do a little something something for herself, outside of her new mum phase.

So she chose the safest thing any person can do and decides to become a racecar driver. On a reality show. Say what?! Slow down, Adele (quite literally). What is this crazy idea all about?

The British show Top Gear features drivinge racecars and has featured Ewan McGregor and James McAvoy. It's Adele's "dream" to be on the show so she took her driving test and passed on the first go. The driving instructor, Noel Gaughan, didn't know who she was -- she was even singing to him! Could you imagine getting a personal serenade by Adele? In a car? Now that's a dream. But Gaughan is apparently more of a TV guy than a music guy and ... you know ... he teaches famous people to drive so he's kind of unfazed. Except for that time he was giving a lesson to One Direction's Niall Horan and a gaggle of screaming girls surrounded the car taking photos. The instructor said of Adele:

Adele is a gifted driver and what she really wants is to be on Top Gear, with my encouragement. We discussed it and it's a dream. She was ecstatic when she passed. I nearly cried when I saw how much it meant to her.

"Noel is Dumbledore of roads," Adele said of her instructor. "Could not have done it without him and his jokes changed my life."

Congrats, Adele! Love that you are pursuing the things you've always wanted to do. We hope you land a spot on Top Gear.

What do you think of Adele wanting to be on this reality show? What would you add to your list of things you really want to do?

I would totally be on Top Gear- agree with her decision 100%. That show is the best!

All they do is have their racing instructor teach the people how to drive a (reasonably safe, normal) car around a specific track, then time them for a few laps, interview them, and give out the time. It's not like they would be doing a Nascar race with other cars on the track and flipping and bursting into flame.

Being interviewed by Jeremy Clarkson would be one of the highlights of my life. I think you win if you insult him better than he insults you. I don't care for the kind of music Adele sings so well, but I'd be happy to see her laughing with the guys.

Top Gear is not a reality show, It's a chat show where cars are more the guest than people. The cars they "race" in are very boring cars like a Kia or a Hyundai. Watching Hugh Grant was a hoot.

her "adorable son Simon" is actually named Angelo, get your facts straight or your entire article is suspect.

Top Gear isn't a reality show, it's a car show where along with all sorts of other things, each week they have a famous guest whom they interview and then the guest does a fast lap on their road track to see if their time will beat the other famous folks who have been on the show. Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz were on the show to name a few.
