I love Kristen Bell. I love her sweet obsession with sloths. I love that she named her baby daughter Lincoln. And I love that she married Dax Shepard today in a no-frills wedding at the Beverly Hills County Clerk office in Los Angeles.
Kristen and Dax have been engaged for four years and have famously said that they would wait to tie the knot until same sex marriage became legal in their state. Kristen even re-proposed to Dax on Twitter last June after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act and overturned California’s ban against gay marriage.
"We've been very vocal about not wanting to be married in a state that doesn't allow that right to all of its citizens," Bell said in 2012. "We'll wait until California gets on the right side of history."
Apparently the couple were just at the courthouse to get a marriage license, but when an employee offered to marry them right there, they couldn’t wait any longer. Sources say Kristen was shedding tears.
Awwww! How sweet is that? I love that after years together, and sharing baby Lincoln (7 months), they couldn’t stand to wait one more minute to get married after getting their license. And whether you agree with their political associations or not, they stood for something they believed in, which in my book is admirable.
Congrats to the lovebirds!
Would you consider waiting to get married for political reasons?
