I think it's safe to say that just like most other Glee fans, I always expected that Finn (played by Cory Monteith) and Rachel (Lea Michele) would end up together living happily ever after. For forever now, Glee creator Ryan Murphy has said he knows exactly how Rachel and Finn's story will end, clearly a concept that forever changed after Cory's tragic death. And in last week's Cory Monteith tribute episode, Rachel gave us some insight into what that ending was supposed to entail. And man, does it sound storybook -- to say the least.
A little sneak peek: It involves the two of them, together, in Lima, Ohio.
Rachel tells Mr. Schue in one of the episode's most tearjerking scenes:
I was going to make it big on Broadway. And maybe do a Woody Allen movie. And then when we were ready, I would just come back, and he'd be teaching here. And I'd walk through those doors, and I'd just say, 'I'm home.' And then we would live happily ever after.
... it all just sounds so exactly like we hoped for the two characters. So the question arises: What will happen to Rachel Berry now?
Well ... I could see the Glee writers taking this tragic event and spinning it into motivation for the show's shining star. I could see her continuing on to do big things on Broadway and, heck, even go for that Woody Allen movie. The only difference? That one day, even after all of this heartbreak, she'll meet someone else. And sure, that someone won't be Finn, but we're sure it'll be someone special.
Do you think there's a happy ending in Rachel's future without Finn?
