Eminem Pulls a Kanye With 'Rap God' Single (VIDEO)

Eye Roll 7

eminemSelf-confidence is a good and healthy thing, I think we can all agree. Right? The greatest love of all and so on and so forth. Except sometimes, just sometimes, people stop simply believing in themselves and start BELIEVING in themselves. A perfect example: The new Eminem single, "Rap God."

Sure, everybody's saying it's really good and that Eminem is back, etc., but that's not the point here. The point here is Eminem calling himself a "rap god" reminds me a lot of Kanye West calling himself a straight-up god in "I Am a God" and the two of them calling themselves god makes me wonder, What's up with the rapper god complex?

Now, it's probably true that both Eminem and Kanye consider themselves to be metaphorical "gods" -- gods of their art form so to speak -- as opposed to actual deities. Or ... are they talking about "gods" in the literal sense? Of his tune, Kanye said:

“I made that song because I am a god ... I don’t think there’s much more explanation. I’m not going to sit here and defend shit. That shit is rock ’n’ roll, man. That shit is rap music. I am a god. Now what?”

Um ... you tell us, Kanye. Seeing as how you're god and all.

Seriously though, either way, I can't help but feel like all this bandying about of the "G" word is a symptom of some sort of severely inflated sense of self. Let's take a look at the definition of the term "god complex" for clarity:

A god complex is an unshakable belief characterized by consistently inflated feelings of personal ability, privilege, or infallibility. A person with a god complex may refuse to admit the possibility of their error or failure, even in the face of complex or intractable problems or difficult or impossible tasks, or may regard personal opinions as unquestionably correct. The individual may disregard the rules of society and require special consideration or privileges.

Sort of hits the nail on the head, don't it??

You can take a listen to the new Eminem tune here:

Yeah, no danger of this dude having low self-esteem.

Do you think Eminem and Kanye West have god complexes?

Umm...did you listen to the lyrics at all? no, of course you didn't. The lyrics poke fun at all the "rap dogs" walking around with a Mac in their backpack and spewing F-bombs....I don't think that you would know what Eminem is about, or what he has been about most of his career...sarcasm...lyricism....these are what he is about...I suggest reading the lyrics and then reading them again and trying to understand what he is saying...before you write your stir-the-pot-try-to-get-attention-by-being-controversial posts...

He actually never called himself a rap god. He said he is starting to feel like a rap god. Sometimes I feel death but does mean im dead or that I think im dead.

No offense but : Ain't this some shit. whoever wrote this sucking post is just trynna get attention, Eminem calls himself A Rap God, We get it. Kanye West Calls himself A "God" clearly everyone could see the difference here. Eminem is the best. And he KNOWS it and he showed us, So why the talk?? need much attention? kill yourself and you'll get it.

Kanye on the other hand says he's a 'God', Trust me, if kanye was a 'God' we would have been suffering now.
