The minute Charlie Hunnam dropped out of Fifty Shades of Grey because fans drove him out of a scheduling conflict, speculation as to who would take his place started. (Sheesh guys, the body isn't even cold yet.) Wishful thinking had people immediately going to fan favorites such as Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer (and even Robert Pattinson), but I've gotta be honest here: If it didn't happen the first time 'round, it probably isn't going to happen now. Sowwy.
So. Who's it gonna be?
Well, according to the Hollywood Reporter, a little-known actor named Jamie Dornan may be the one to play Christian. And before you go drawing up a petition asking for someone else to be cast, I'd like you to take a moment to drink in the photo to your left.
Now. Who is this Jamie character? Well, he started out as a model (shocking, I know); his most famous campaign being Calvin Klein underwear ads he starred in with Eva Mendes. He also had a fairly substantial role in Once Upon a Time's first season, and he's currently starring in the BBC crime drama, The Fall. Also, he dated Keira Knightley. Also, he's really, really pretty.
Personally, I think they should draw the casting process out as long as possible, because to me, part of the fun is the waiting. Also, you know that everyone's going to be all up in arms, ready to storm E.L. James' kingdom, once the next announcement is made. No actor will ever be able to fill the shoes of the Christian Grey we've all created in our minds.
Except for maybe Matt Bomer.
