Josh HutchersonOut magazine has kind of been on a roll lately in terms of getting intriguing quotes out of celebrities. Back in September Joseph Gordon-Levitt raised a bunch of curious eyebrows when he told the publication it would be “tacky” to address the issue of his sexual orientation, because "they would win if I had to clarify." Now Catching Fire star Josh Hutcherson has announced in an interview that he's positive his Hunger Games character would be down with a Katniss/Gale three-way.

*Needle drags comically across record* Wait, what? Peeta wants to fulfill the fantasy of every dystopian slashfic author on the planet? What does Peeta think of a four-way with whatshisname, the sideburns guy? Or Haymitch? Hell, I'd take a Haymitch Sammich. Also, has Suzanne Collins been notified about this intriguing new plot development in her bestselling trilogy?

Here's what Hutcherson had to say about the idea of Peeta, Katniss, and Gale taking a quick sex break from all their death games and revolutionary uprisings and whatnot:

I know Peeta would be into it, for sure. He's very sensitive, in touch with his emotions. I think it really might solve a lot of their problems.

He added,

You know what? I'm going to pitch that idea. Let's make it a -- what's it called when three people are in a relationship together? A triad? That'll go over well with Middle America.

I'm going to go WAY out on a limb here and assume he was just kidding around, but it's still sort of an odd thing for an actor in an enormously popular franchise to say, isn't it? I mean, not that threesomes are unsavory or anything -- hey, whatever floats your boner -- it's just, I don't know, imagine if Daniel Radcliffe had announced that Harry Potter was totally into getting it on with Hermione and Ron? All I'm saying is that I'm going to be watching Catching Fire with a slightly different point of view now, and I can't wait for the inevitable porn parody, May the Odds Be Ever in Your Flavor.

As for whether Hutcherson himself would be interested in switching up teams, he was pretty open about that too:

Maybe I could say right now I'm 100 percent straight. But who knows? In a f--king year, I could meet a guy and be like, Whoa, I'm attracted to this person. I've met guys all the time that I'm like, Damn, that's a good-looking guy, you know? I've never been, like, Oh, I want to kiss that guy. I really love women. But I think defining yourself as 100% anything is kind of near-sighted and close-minded.

Well, good for Josh Hutcherson for not being afraid to step outside the young male actor stereotype, even though I DO think he sort of comes across like a slobbering horndog in his various Hunger Games interviews. Back in June, he said the following about filming love scenes with Jennifer Lawrence:

I’d say there’s a natural stirring that happens in your body. If you’re in the moment and you’re in the scene, then whatever naturally happens is what’s supposed to happen.

Dude. Take a cold shower, for god's sake.

So, what do you think about Hutcherson's comments?
