Who doesn't love themselves some Keanu Reeves? Granted, we haven't seen much of Ted "Theodore" Logan since The Matrix series came to a close, but that's all about to change -- the much-postponed action/fantasy flick 47 Ronin is slated to open on Christmas Day, 2013. Yay! Billed as a "big-budget samurai epic," the film stars Reeves as Kai, a half-British, half-Japanese swordsman leading a group of warriors in a quest avenge their master's murder. Apparently the story is based on true events, which took place in 18th-century Japan. (Though I'm assuming the actual story didn't involve any ginormous CGI dragons. Of course, you never know.)
Anyway, the big news here isn't really about dragons OR samurais.
The big news here is ... Keanu Reeves is back, and not a moment too soon! We NEED that dude on the big screen, especially in the sci-fi/fantasy/action genre. Think about it, so far, 2013 has been dominated by the likes of such action-y action heroes as Robert Downey Jr. and Brad Pitt -- both fine actors, to be sure, but there's never been an action hero quite like "Sad Keanu," who manages to make even dragon-hunting a deeply cerebral pastime. Just check out this clip:
See what I mean? Who knew the stoner thing would work so well for a dragon slayer? Dude! Bogus ...
Are you excited about Keanu Reeves' return to the big screen?
