An Open Letter to Sinead O'Connor: Leave Miley Alone

GossipMonger 11

Dear Sinead,

Let me start by saying that I totally get why you wrote your own open letter to Miley Cyrus. You probably know better than most what it’s like to go off your rocker and/or exploit your sexuality, because, well, you’ve been there. It’s natural that you would want to keep another young woman from making the mistakes you regret having made in the past.

I agreed with most, if not all, of what you wrote to her, and I thought it was very classy for you to point out that Miley is talented enough that she doesn’t need to get naked and stick her tongue out to be appreciated as an artist. Well done there.

As we probably could have predicted, Miley responded to you in a childish and mean manner, and managed to insult poor Amanda Bynes in the process. She pulled a screenshot of your Tweets from awhile back, which made the timestamps look current. The tweets were a little nutty, so I get why you were upset, but I’m thinking that cussing Miley out about it was probably not the best idea.

Miley… Really? Who the fuck is advising you? Because taking me on is even more fuckin’ stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism.

I know you’re mad. I’d be pissed too. But all that’s going to do is provoke Little Miss Crazy No-Pants into saying she’s too busy hosting SNL to write you an open letter, and post a picture of you infamously ripping up a picture of the pope on the same show.

You should have let it go, Sinead. Here’s the thing about arguing with crazy people -- it only makes you look crazy too.  But instead you poked at Miley again, and demanded an apology for her bad behavior.

You had plenty of time yesterday to abuse Amanda Bynes .. an entirely innocent party.. and myself.. who also did nothing to deserve your abuse.. along with every other sufferer of mental health problems and every person who suffered abuse at the hands of priests.

You can take five minutes today between g- string fuckin' changes to publicly apologise and remove your abusive tweets. If you do not then you don't give a shit who you mock and what damage you do by being so ignorant.

When you publicly apologise to Amanda and myself and all mental health sufferers as well as all who were abused by priests that will end the matter as far as I am concerned.

Which brings me to the reason I felt the need to write you this letter: Walk away as gracefully as you can right now. Yes, Miley is acting very inappropriately, but there’s nothing that you or anyone can do until she decides to put some clothes on and keep her tongue in her mouth.

You tried. You put in your two cents. Now it’s time to give it a rest. Don’t let her provoke you anymore -- it’s not worth your time.

Do you think Sinead should drop it?

No, she shouldn't drop it. Young celebrities think everyone worships them. Miley needs to be knocked off her pedestal, along with Justin Bieber. Team Sineade!

Oh my God, has hell frozen over? Because I actually agree with Jenny Erikson for once.

I'm not a big fan of Sinead O'Connor's, but go hunt out the video of the interview she did. Apparently, Miley Cyrus didn't and just assumed she was being made fun of. Actually, Sinead says in the interview that Miley has made good music and is clearly talented, but she's being mishandled and exploited at a time when she probably doesn't have the wherewithal to understand how she's being either mishandled or exploited. Her parents obviously aren't looking out for her (and I know she's 20, but her brain is somewhere back at 15), her "people" are obviously into it for the money and fame and no one is there in HER best interests, so she makes a gigantic ass out of herself on TV regularly.

And frankly, I agree with her. Miley's attitude over all of this reminds me of the South Park where Cartman thinks he's an out-of-control teenage girl on the Maury show. "WHATEVA, WHATEVA, I DO WHAT I WANT."

Sinead is out of line. She is old enough to be Miley's mother, but SHE IS NOT. She had no call, and no right, to start advising and scolding Miley, who is an ADULT. And then, Sinead forfeited all her holier-than-thou credibility when she started swearing at and threatening a young woman young enough to be her daughter. I think Sinead is still mentally ill, and is showing it. She just wants attention. She should put a cork in it before she puts the final nail in the coffin of her supposed celebrity status. Who cares about her opinion at this stage of the game?

Where are people getting this idea that Miley Cyrus is talented?? LOL!

Not a fan of Miley, but she is going to do what she wants. Her parents can't stop her, fans, friends or anyone else. Leave her alone and watch the train wreck happens, just like with Britney.

I agree with O'conner, and the author of this article is a fucking idiot. This is EXACTLY what that twat needs to hear from other celebrities to knock her down a notch or two. it's people like you who think that shaiming people doesn't work, well it does.

what HS nonsense. Miley is a 20 year old girl. Sinead, what's your excuse? All these years and I thought it was just us men who stopped maturing at 16.
