So Game of Thrones season 4 may be months and months and months away (and is winter actually coming this year?) (I have a feeling in a few months, I'm going to regret asking that), but that doesn't mean we still can't get excited about what's to come. The season should include a lot of the action that took place in A Storm of Swords, so it's easy to predict some plot points. But still, seeing as the Red Wedding managed to blow book readers' minds, season 4 could potentially top season 3!
In case you haven't heard, there's likely going to be another wedding that is based on a color: The Purple Wedding between King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer).
The Purple Wedding has been making headlines recently because of what the series' author, George R. R. Martin, had to say about it! Read on, but be warned, THE INTERNET IS DARK AND FULL OF SPOILERS.
George R. R. Martin told TV Guide: "It's going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season ... It's what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."
He also said, "The bride's dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there's some wonderful halftime entertainment."
Haaa, can't wait! Book readers know exactly what the halftime entertainment is: Two dwarfs dueling each other in order to make fun of Joffrey's uncle, Tyrion. To watch the two of them go at it during the entire wedding, from Tyrion giving his gift to Joffrey pouring wine all over his uncle to Tyrion giving Joffrey the wedding chalice, might make it even more crazy and tense than the Red Wedding of season 3.
Also, the Purple Wedding features the iconic moment that Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for since day 1. Yes, King Joffrey does die by poison, but of course, we can't truly be completely happy about, because Tyrion was ultimately blamed and put on trial for his nephew's murder. We may have lost some beloved Starks -- and an innocent direwolf -- all in one scene last year, but watching Joffrey finally get his could put this wedding on top.
Can't wait to see how this all plays out! As for now, some images that might be of the Purple Wedding were leaked on Reddit. Think this could be shots from what should be one of the most amazing scenes of season 4? If they are, they make me miss the show that much more!
Do you think the Red Wedding or Purple Wedding will be more memorable?
