Former Disney Star Gets Restaurant Job Because of His Addiction

Dylan, right
It's like something out of the Disney show, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. I can just see Zack Martin bleating, "This is not what it looks like!" with that "caught!" look on his face. Well the real Zach, Dylan Sprouse, has been caught working as a host at a restaurant. Oh noes, said the Internets. Has Dylan burned through the fortune he earned as a child star? Is it drugs?!? Relax, people. This is so not what it looks like.

Dylan took on the hand-wringers in a blog post explaining why he, a millionaire and NYU student, was seeing people to their tables at a local restaurant. NO, he has not burned through all the money. YES, he has an addiction -- but it's video gaming, and he got a job to force himself out into the world and interacting with people IRL.

To clear up the air (which is admittedly pretty rude), I did not take this job because I “lost all my money,” I am financially secure, and took this job as a way to primarily feed my over bountiful video game addiction.

I also took this as a way to try a new experience, working somewhat below the means I’m used to, as well as a way to socialize and get out of the house. I feel most comfortable when I’m working and doing something, to criticize someone of that is pretty odd. I will potentially return to acting someday, but in no way do I think any experience is a step down for me, but rather a new step in another direction.

Not to mention, if Dylan Sprouse were really hard up for money, do you think he'd be hosting at a restaurant? I think he has more lucrative means for earning dough at his disposal. Restaurant work seems a surprising choice for a former child star, but what the heck. Why not? It's social, but not as demanding as waiting tables. Good for Zack. I mean, Dylan.

If you were a millionaire, would you still work?

Learn to read, DJ, he's hosting, not waiting tables. And, they don't actually make that much unless they work at an upscale restaurant. They get tips but make about $2-3/hour. Wow, so rich! Eyeroll. Get a life.

I like that he has a normal job. It shows he has a good head on his shoulders and doesn't feel he is above anybody because he used to be a disney star.

Bravo to him! It seems the world lives with their noses on some electronic device. Good to interact with humans, learn to read real faces and not words to understand emotion and empathy.

My husband would still work if he was a millionaire despite what some people believe there are some who LIKE working. I see nothing wrong with what he's doing it shows he has a good head on his shoulders!

Wow, some of you need to get a clue. Hosts, servers...anyone who gets a tip MUST claim it on their taxes...I should know since my husband is a bartender!

Anyway, BRAVO to Dylan for wanting to better himself and for getting out and doing SOMETHING other than partying.

His parents raised a couple of good kids.  Going to college and working, sounds familiar.  Good for Dylan.

Really?! Why take a job that makes money that you don't need when someone else needs it. There are too many people out there that could really use that job to put food on their and some millionaire takes that job instead. What am I not understanding here? That's just wrong.
