After five long, fight-filled seasons on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Caroline Manzo is calling it quits. One of the original women on Bravo's hit, the mother of three has endured so many vicious attacks, who could blame her. She battled season 1 villain Danielle Staub, Teresa Giudice, and even her baby sister Dina Manzo (who still doesn't speak to her). But despite all the heartache, that's not the only reason Caroline is leaving the show.
She won't be returning for season 6 because she reportedly has her own spinoff in the works. In fact, Us Weekly sources say Manzo'd With Children has already started taping. It will feature her husband Albert and kids Albie, Chris, and Lauren, and her sister Fran.
I can certainly understand her wanting to get away from the madness and do her own show, but I have to ask -- is Caroline interesting enough to carry it? I love how tight her family is, but they have always been a bit of a snooze-fest. Even the few episodes that had us wondering if her hubby Albert was cheating weren't all that intriguing. Actually, for a reality TV family, they seemed kinda normal. That was necessary to balance out the craziness of Teresa, Melissa Gorga, and the rest of the Italian mommy brat pack. She was often the voice of reason, the one with all the common sense.
Without those unhinged costars, I don't know if Caroline is worth watching. And what exactly will Manzo'd follow? Her catering to her whiny, adult children? Her trying to keep the spark alive in her marriage? Hmmm. As much as I like Caroline, not sure that is worth an hour of my precious free time.
Would you watch a Caroline Manzo spinoff?
