Selena Gomez Concerts Cancelled Over Her 'Pro-Gay Agenda'

Say What!? 18

Selena Gomez has been forced to cancel a series of concerts -- supposedly over her "pro-gay agenda." Russia has really been cracking down on gay rights, basically forbidding anyone who is gay in the country from having any kind of a life. Gay couples can no longer adopt children nor can foreigners whose countries have gay equality! There cannot be discussion of homosexuality anywhere near children, and foreigners who promote a "gay agenda" are banned from the country and can even be arrested. This is why concert promoters think that Selena, who was set to play a series of shows there, was denied a visa.

You don't ordinarily think of Selena as being a "pro-gay" artist -- certainly not in the way Madonna or Lady Gaga is. But apparently it didn't matter. Promoters think that the country wants to avoid another pop star espousing "pro-gay propaganda" in the way that Madonna and Lady Gaga did when they were there.

A petition had been launched on Change.org that encouraged Selena to support gays while she was in the country, and since it had about 14,000 signatures, perhaps Russia felt that she would say something "pro-gay." The petitioner, John Becker, wrote:

The Russian government is clearly on edge and aware of the bruising its reputation has taken in the wake of their anti-LGBT crackdown.

This is all so disturbing.

Celebrities are beginning to avoid Russia -- Bravo's Andy Cohen reportedly turned down his usual Miss Universe pageant hosting duties because it will be held in Moscow in November. He said that the new crackdown makes it make it "unsafe for the gays who live there and gays coming to work or visit."

It certainly does. Good luck, Russia, in getting any cool concerts in the near future.

What do you think of this?

I think Russia should pull their heads out of their asses.

I wish you disgusting people would wake up. There is a reason that a man has a pole and a woman has a hole.

Russia is ridiculous. All I can think of to say.

If you want to get technical, men have both, so by your own logic you shut the hell up. Why the hell do you care who puts what where? Beyond your own stupid prejudices, other people being gay shouldn't effect your little life. Get over it.

I think it's great that Russia has the courage to stick to their beliefs. I agree with their stance and wish more Americans would wake up.
