Zac Efron's Rehab Stint May Be More Shocking Than We Thought

This Just In 1

Zac EfronIt was somewhat surprising to hear reports earlier today that Zac Efron completed a stint in rehab about five months ago. He's not ever been known for wild, outlandish antics, but good for him for getting help if he needed it, we thought.

A source told E! Online that he's currently focused on his career and has put his partying on hold. "He's healthy, happy, and not drinking." Great ... but it may not be that simple. TMZ is reporting that his problems were MUCH more serious than just a little booze.

The site claims that multiple sources have confirmed Efron had a "serious cocaine addiction" and also experimented with Molly, a drug that has been in the news lately for causing deaths. While filming Neighbors, cocaine was reportedly a big problem, and there were several days he didn't show up at all.

"It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine," a source connected to the film said.

The site is also reporting that Efron and some friends went on "a coke rager" and did $50,000 of damage to a Vegas hotel. Yikes, that's some serious and scary stuff.

It's hard to picture the clean-cut guy we've watched grow up since High School Musical involved in such self-destructive activities. Then again, it's a story we've seen all too often with other Disney stars and young stars in general.

Of course these reports are coming from "sources," so we have to take the information with a grain of salt, but they usually are linked to some sort of truth. Regardless of what Zac's problems were though, hopefully he now has them under control and can move forward with a healthy lifestyle. Stay strong, Zac!

Are you surprised to learn that Zac did a stint in rehab?

I am surprised (and shocked this was kept under wraps for so long). I hope he got the help he needs and is able to move on a stronger person!
