It was kind of an odd circle tonight on The Real Housewives of New Jersey with a tease in the opening scenes of Joe Gorga's angry explosion that sent a glass flying. I think they did it to keep our interest, because all of the peace, love, and Zen were getting a little boring.
So all the while during the rewind when everyone was bonding over massages, creating mayhem at the pool, and walking on tightropes in the sky, we knew something big was coming. When Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga promised while balancing many feet above the ground to never fight again, we knew it wasn't going to be that easy. Especially because down on the ground, Joe was still seeing and seething over nasty tweets about his wife cheating, from none other than Penny Drossos Karagiorgis -- who Teresa went to great lengths to let them know was not her friend. A little too great of lengths, because it all seemed a bit staged for the Gorgas' taste.
Melissa said she was willing to move on (though clearly she wasn't, as she demonstrated when she pointedly left Teresa out of her birthday toast), but Joe wanted it to stop. He wasn't going to be happy until Teresa admitted she had something to do with all the rumors. He said some of the things being said no one would know but Teresa. Teresa, of course, said she had nothing to do with them, tried to blame Melissa's friend Jan, and didn't want to confront Penny because she didn't want to give her any more power. So there they were shouting and screaming, and the glass flew.
It looked like all the work they'd done was for nothing, and they'd leave in an even worse place than they'd come. Then with a little help from Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita, they came to a solution -- they would unite as a team and confront Penny. Teresa was reluctant, but in the end agreed to do so. Then it was rah rah, go united team. "You go deal with that bitch," Albert Manzo told them.
Previews for next week don't show a confrontation between Joe, Teresa, and Penny, but rather Penny and Melissa talking one-on-one. That could be interesting, and we'll see how far Penny throws Teresa under the bus.
I don't know if Teresa is involved in the rumors or not. I don't get the feeling that she's maliciously trying to plant the rumors (or at least isn't anymore), but I do think she may know more, or has been around more when they're being ignited, than she's letting on.
In any case, it's united Team Giudice-Gorga ... for now. Whoever is behind those rumors should be scared -- especially if it's Teresa, and this all blows up in her face.
Most disturbing moment of the night: It's a tie between Joe Gorga doing "the dip" and the fringed purple tube top and daisy dukes Melissa wore to do an adventure course -- NOT cute.
Do you think Teresa has something to do with the rumors? Do you think Joe and Teresa reuniting will make them stop?
